International Students Continue to Choose Ulima Above All Other Universities in Peru

Universidad de Lima has further strengthened its position as Peru’s leading destination for international students, driven by its academic excellence and growing global reputation. The QS World University Rankings 2027—the world’s most influential university ranking—reaffirmed this achievement by placing the University first in Peru in the International Students indicator.

“Being ranked first in Peru in the International Students indicator is an important milestone for the University because it highlights our unwavering commitment to internationalization, one of our institutional priorities,” noted María Teresa Bertini, Director of Internationalization. “This recognition reflects the strong reputation Ulima has built through sustained collaborative efforts across its academic and administrative units, as well as a robust network of trusted global partnerships.”

Bertini underscored that international students contribute to a diverse and multicultural academic community, enriching the educational experience across campus. She also emphasized the value of international experiences for Ulima students, who serve as ambassadors of the University’s academic excellence abroad.

Universidad de Lima also achieved strong results in several other QS indicators, ranking second in Employer Reputation and third in both Academic Reputation and Sustainability. Overall, the University placed fourth among Peruvian institutions.

Luis Moy, Director of Planning and Accreditation at Ulima, explained that the Employer Reputation indicator is based on surveys reflecting employers’ assessments of the professional quality of graduates. Academic Reputation, meanwhile, is determined by the opinions of experts within the higher education sector, while the Sustainability indicator evaluates institutional initiatives aimed at promoting environmental responsibility and social well-being. “This is a highly competitive ranking. Last year, nine Peruvian universities made the list. This year, only six did. We are competing among the best universities in the world,” he stated.

In this edition, the QS World University Rankings assessed 8,808 institutions from 106 countries. Only 1,504 universities earned a place in the rankings, including six Peruvian institutions. “QS is a transparent and objective ranking system. Its methodology is clear, and the data used are verifiable, which gives the ranking a high degree of credibility,” noted Moy.
