Universidad de Lima Brings Together Top Business Leaders at CAENE’s 2025 Forum

Universidad de Lima reaffirmed its role as a hub for dialogue and collaboration by hosting the 2025 Business Leaders Forum, organized by the Center for Advanced Studies in Business and Economics (CAENE). The event brought together public officials, industry experts, and students to discuss the challenges shaping Peru’s economic development and industrial growth.

In her opening remarks, Rector Patricia Stuart welcomed participants and highlighted the strong alignment between the University’s mission and CAENE’s objectives. “Building connections with businesses and transforming societies is also a priority for Universidad Lima,” she noted. Rector Stuart also emphasized the importance of collaboration among the business sector, the State, and academia as a foundation for developing proposals that contribute to Peru’s social and economic progress.

Miguel Shinno, Director of the Industrial Engineering Program at Universidad de Lima, underscored the University’s commitment to fostering a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable economy. He emphasized the role of industrial investment, modern logistics, and ethical leadership in addressing national challenges and encouraged students to engage as active participants and future agents of change.

The event featured two main segments: the Meeting of Leaders in Economics and Finance (ELEF) and the Meeting of Leaders in Industry and Logistics (ELIL). Former Minister of Economy and Finance Luis Carranza opened the economics segment with an analysis of employment and productivity in Latin America. This was followed by a panel discussion featuring experts such as Mercedes Aráoz and José Antonio Salardi, both former Ministers of Economy and Finance, and Ana Cecilia Jara, President of the Association of Pension Fund Administrators (AFP), who addressed economic policy, institutional trust, and financial inclusion in the digital era.

The ELIL segment began with remarks by Felipe James Callao, President of the National Society of Industries, who addressed the challenges and opportunities of advancing toward a smarter industrial sector. The panel featured leaders from across the industry, including Ricardo Márquez, Executive Director of Industrias Flomar; Antonio Castillo Garay, Corporate Advisor to the National Society of Industries; Alex Daly, Manager of Trade Committees at SNI; Luis Salazar, CEO of Metálicas Unión; and Pola Guanilo, General Manager of R&G Seguridad e Higiene Industrial, who emphasized innovation, sustainability, and public–private collaboration as key priorities.

The event also featured the participation of Daniel Moreno, International Consultant; Juan Pichihua Serna, Superintendent of the Securities Market; Rafael Carranza Jahnsen, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Lima Stock Exchange; Sergio Javier Espinosa Chiroque, Superintendent of Banking, Insurance, and Pension Funds (AFP); Paul Castillo Bardález, General Manager of the Central Reserve Bank of Peru; César Quispe Luján, Vice Minister of SME and Industry at the Ministry of Production; and Jaime Herrera, stand-up comedian.

Through this forum, Universidad de Lima reaffirmed its commitment to shaping the next generation of leaders—professionals with a global vision, innovative capacity, and a strong sense of social responsibility.
