Ulima Students Take First Place in University of London Competition

Universidad de Lima students were recognized with certificates and an award plaque after earning first place in the New International Business Challenge 2025/26: Local Community Impact Challenge, a competition organized by the University of London in partnership with Royal Holloway Business School.

The winning project, FORMALIZA+, was developed by Marketing student Fátima Morón and Industrial Engineering students Alessandra Camarena, Fabiana Escudero, and Johan Uceda. The digital platform aims to reduce business informality by increasing service visibility, providing training, and facilitating access to financing.

Through strategic partnerships, the platform enables MSEs to promote their services, access courses and certifications, and connect with financial institutions to obtain credit. In doing so, it encourages gradual formalization and fosters more inclusive economic growth.

This achievement reflects the international partnership that Universidad de Lima has maintained with the University of London since 2015, enabling students to earn a second international degree. In addition, Universidad de Lima is a Recognised Teaching Centre (RTC) and is part of a global network of 13 institutions authorized to offer this program, which combines international online coursework with local support over a three-year period.

The event was also an opportunity to recognize additional achievements. Gustavo Pinday Díaz, a student in the School of Communication, received an award from Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería (UNI) for his proposal, Agronet: Connecting Rural and Urban Communities, presented through UNI Academia de Líderes and the United Nations System in Peru.

The awards ceremony was led by Rector Patricia Stuart in the Rector's Council Room, attended by Maria Teresa Bertini, Director of Internationalization, and Antonio Esquivel, Advisor to the Office of Internationalization. Also in attendance were Carlos Rivadeneyra, Dean of the School of Communication; José Toma, Director of the Marketing Program; and Miguel Shinno, Director of the Industrial Engineering Program.
