BENEFITS
- You will receive a certification of knowledge issued by Universidad de Lima upon passing the Professional Suitability Exam.
- The certification as a Representative of Intermediary Agents awarded by the SMV holds the same level of importance as an international certification.
- Before taking the Professional Suitability Exam, you can take a refresher course* to strengthen your technical knowledge of the securities market. Furthermore, you will have access to a virtual sample exam to help you prepare—available on the course platform once the course concludes.
- You can access this refresher course online, which includes:
- Asynchronous: Materials will be available on the virtual classroom platform 24/7. You can study at your own pace, choosing the day and time that works best for you.
- Synchronous: We will offer 3 hours of real-time guidance per specialty via Zoom with an instructor. These sessions will have specific dates and times.
- During the course, you will have access to Ulima Stock Markets Laboratory**, considered one of the most modern and competitive regionwide.
By obtaining the certification of knowledge, you will achieve the following:
- Align and develop your professional profile towards the securities market, including pension fund associations, banks, fund management companies, and other investment-related entities.
- Continue working as a representative of a brokerage firm. Remember: it is key to renew or maintain your certification.
- Gain the opportunity to apply to a brokerage firm (SAB) to work as an advisor, operator, or portfolio manager, or in other securities market-related entities.
(*) The cost of the course is included in the fee for the Professional Suitability Exam.
(**) Access to the Stock Market Laboratory is coordinated with the laboratory and subject to availability and scheduling.

(*) Specializations to Consider:
- Fixed Income
- Equities (Stocks)
- Financial Derivatives
(**) Guidelines for applicants with an active certification seeking renewal or an extension of their qualifications:
Renewal:
- Applicants must demonstrate the same qualifications as those in the expiring certification.
- As long as the certification remains valid, only the specialized component of the Professional Suitability Exam will be required. Additionally:
- If renewal occurs within six (6) months prior to the certification's expiration, the three (3) years will begin from the day after the expiration of the previous certification.
- If renewal occurs outside of the six (6)-month window, the three (3) years will begin from the day after passing the Professional Suitability Exam.
Extension of qualifications (new certification or specialization):
- As long as a valid certification is held, only the specialized component of the Professional Suitability Exam will be required (i.e., the basic component is excluded).
- The validity of the three (3) years will begin from the day after passing the Professional Suitability Exam.
In both cases (renewal or extension of qualifications), the minimum passing grade for the specialized component is 70%.
ABOUT THE CERTIFICATION
- The certification as a representative of intermediary agents is valid for 3 calendar years, starting the day after passing the exam.
- Renewal will take effect the day after the expiration of the previous certification.
- If you are taking the Professional Suitability Exam for the first time to obtain the certification or if your certification has expired, you must take the Basic Component (which is mandatory, with the corresponding payment) in addition to the chosen specialization.
- If your certification is still valid and you wish to renew it, you will only need to take the specialized component—no need to retake the Basic Component.
- If you already hold a valid certification as an advisor or operator and wish to obtain a second certification in a different specialization, you can skip the Basic Component. You only need to complete the specialization you wish to certify.
