63 Years of Excellence: Ulima Rolls Out Learning Model and Strategic Plan 2025-2029

Universidad de Lima celebrated 63 years of academic excellence on April 25, alongside distinguished leaders from academia and public institutions. The event was both a tribute to its vast history and a platform for future progress, marked by the official presentation of its 2025–2029 Strategic Plan and innovative Ulima Educational Model.

During her speech, Rector Patricia Stuart emphasized that this 63rd anniversary marks the beginning of a bold institutional transformation. The 2025–2029 Strategic Plan sets forth ambitious goals—enhancing teaching quality, promoting academic internationalization, strengthening industry connections, advancing impactful research, and bolstering sustainability practices.

Among the standout moments of the celebration was the launch of the Ulima Educational Model, which embraces experiential learning as its core.  It empowers students to learn by doing—through real-world scenarios, critical reflection, and active analysis—preparing them to become skilled, innovative, and ethical leaders ready to make a difference.

"The Ulima Educational Model is our blueprint—it defines who we are and where we're going," said the Rector. She also underscored the key role of emerging technologies, the expansion of graduate programs, and the launch of ambitious programs such as Environmental Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering, aligned with sustainability and innovation.

The celebration kicked off with the rhythm and spirit of Afro-Peruvian dance performed by our students and concluded with a powerful musical tribute by Peruvian artist Lucho Quequezana, who returned to his alma mater and thrilled the crowd with a performance rich in cultural pride. The event was livestreamed to venues across campus—including Building F1, Auditorium O, and the Main Auditorium—bringing this experience to the entire Ulima community.

Throughout the anniversary week, Universidad de Lima hosted activities that united students, faculty, and alumni in celebration. One of the highlights was the launch of Conexos, a new program that shares meaningful stories from within the University. The first episode honored the anniversary by celebrating our values, legacy, and innovative spirit. Another key moment was the opening of the immersive exhibit Transforming Generations: Universidad de Lima Through Time, open until May 10. The exhibit guides visitors through the University’s past and future, inspired by its commitment to innovation and leadership.

Adding to the celebration, the photo exhibition Over Six Decades of History invited the university community to revisit key milestones that have shaped the University's identity over the past 60 years—from architecture to academic life. Large visual installations across the campus, including the central fountain and the Fernando de Szyszlo mural, featured QR codes that revealed hidden stories and fun facts, offering a meaningful and interactive experience.

On April 22 and 24, the first floor of Building F1 became a lively stage for students from the artistic workshops, who filled the space with marinera and cumbia dance. Their performances proved once again that art is a wonderful way to unite, express, and build community.

After 63 years, Universidad de Lima continues to champion academic excellence, research, and innovation, preparing professionals to thrive in an ever-changing world. Its legacy and future shine as a beacon for those seeking to make a difference.
