On the first anniversary of the School of Economics' relaunch at Universidad de Lima, academic authorities, faculty, students, and distinguished guests gathered together for a day of reflection and dialogue focused on the challenges facing Peru.
The agenda featured an academic poster session; the workshop Stock Market Operations; the colloquium Perspectives on the Peruvian Economy in 2026; the session Cum Laude Experiences; the Economic Knowledge Tournament; and the keynote lecture Professional Pathways in Economics. Designed as a celebration of academic excellence, the event showcased the School's commitment to high academic standards and to empowering students as active contributors to the scholarly community.
During the opening ceremony, Rector Patricia Stuart stated that the reestablishment of the School represents more than just an organizational milestone— it reflects a deliberate institutional reaffirmation of its legacy, academic maturity, and commitment to the country's development. As an alumna of the program, she underscored the University's role in preparing professionals capable of making decisions that shape collective well-being, business development, and market sustainability.
Alberto Tokeshi, Dean of the School of Economics, emphasized that economics lies at the core of the University's historical identity. He explained that the discipline integrates scientific rigor and social perspective, offering technical competencies while promoting the generation and dissemination of knowledge aligned with Peru's priorities.
He also underscored the importance of strengthening institutional foundations to prepare future leaders, reaffirming that students remain central to the University's mission. Dean Tokeshi explained that this new phase reinforces the School's academic framework and supports students in developing a deep understanding of their professional environment, ethical responsibilities, and the broader commitments associated with the discipline.
One year after this renewal process, the School of Economics—founded alongside Universidad de Lima and deeply rooted in its academic legacy—has consolidated a project defined by scholarly rigor, research excellence, and dedication to Peru’s sustainable development. It embraces the future with clarity of purpose and a revitalized commitment to educating the next generation of leaders.
