Thermodynamics Laboratory

This is an area designed for the generation of knowledge on energy transfer and conservation. The experiments carried out are intended to determine the heat capacity ratio of a gas by applying the Clement-Desormes method; indicate the vapor pressure of pure substances; understand thermochemistry; as well as determine the heat of reaction, heat of formation and standard heat of combustion.

This is also a place intended for the development of thermodynamic applications when students present or explain their thermodynamic projects on thermal efficiency, cogeneration and refrigeration processes, etc.

Some of our equipment is detailed below:

Heating mantle

This is used to heat substances for distillation processes.

Handheld micromanometer

This is used to measure and control pressure of gases obtained in given experiments.

Digital thermometer

This is used to measure the temperature of liquid substances to control them in given experiments.
