Metrology and Materials Control Laboratory

Ensuring the quality of the measurements is the objective of the Metrology and Material Control Laboratory. By using nationally and internationally traceable standards, the laboratory verifies the calibration of mass and temperature equipment used in the laboratories of the Industrial Engineering Undergraduate Program.

Likewise, it has laboratory equipment used by our students and thesis students to carry out metallographic analyses, as well as tensile, compression, bending and hardness tests.

Some of our equipment is detailed below:

Rockwell hardness tester

This tester measures material hardness. Six special loads are used, each suitable for a specific application or material.

Computer-controlled dual-column benchtop universal testing machine

Press-like machine suitable for testing materials in traction, compression, tension, etc. with a view to measuring their properties.

Binocular petrographic microscope

Measuring equipment with two eyepieces. It is intended to magnify the image of a sample through a lens system and light source. It is used to identify minerals and examine their textures.
