General Chemistry Laboratory

This is an area properly equipped and structured for our students to dynamically perform in their first academic confrontation with chemistry at university level.

This laboratory promotes the development of skills needed to understand basic chemistry. To this end, experiments are carried out with different objectives, from the recognition of frequently used laboratory materials to the recognition of chemical changes in several types of reactions, including experimental validation with the respective stoichiometric calculations. Moreover, other experiments are aimed at identifying the properties of matter, preparing solutions and determining different concentrations, and studying gas behavior according to the established laws.

Some of our equipment is detailed below:

Precision analytical balance

This balance measures the mass of different samples, as well as the density of substances and calibration of glassware.

pH, mV and temperature meter

This meter measures acidity and temperature. It is used to determine pH, ORP and temperature of a solution.

Electrolysis module (power supply, electrodes and glassware)

This module is intended to develop water electrolysis. It is used in experiments using electricity to decompose water into hydrogen and oxygen gases.
