Infrastructure

In order to strengthen the knowledge received and experiment by themselves, Civil Engineering students have laboratories with modern infrastructure where they can combine theory and practice. Civil Engineering laboratories are as follows:

Geotechnical and Pavements Laboratory

This laboratory is used to characterize the different soils and rocks found in the construction of several engineering works, and the different types of pavements that may be used in road works.

Materials Laboratory

This laboratory is used to verify the proper use of existing materials and the proposal of new materials properly certified for construction, such as aggregates, concrete, steel, masonry and any other material provided by the national or international market.

Hydraulics Laboratory

In this laboratory, the flow of water, its safety and its use with the least possible waste are studied. This is important because the creation of environments suitable for the management of water by means of damming, channeling and various forms can be conveniently carried out from an analysis that has the adequate support of a specialized laboratory.

Structures Laboratory

This laboratory is used for academic research and support in the field of structural engineering. To this end, activities, such as the development and upgrading of construction systems, experimental and theoretical study of structural systems, and study of seismic-resistant systems, are proposed.

Energy Laboratory

In this laboratory, academic research and support are developed in the field of sustainable engineering. To this end, activities to develop and upgrade energy-generating systems from different renewable sources, such as wind, solar radiation, water, among others, are proposed. Non-renewable energy sources, such as oil, coal and others, are also studied.

Physics Laboratory

This laboratory aims to conduct experiments and research, according to the fundamental laws of mechanics which rule the behavior of a particle, a particle system and a rigid-body system, i.e., according to the laws of kinematics, statics and dynamics. It also enables the conduction of experiments, according to the laws of electrostatics, electrodynamics and electromagnetism, including the introduction to the analysis of electrical circuits, and AC and DC measuring instruments.

Electrical Engineering Laboratory

This laboratory enables the conduction of experiments and research using AC and DC circuits, including the analysis of electrical circuits and the study of electrical machines parameters, such as motors, transformers and some electronic circuits.

Chemistry Laboratory

In this laboratory, thermodynamic laws, heat and properties of liquids and gases are studied. In addition, basic chemistry experiments are carried out. Experiments on the behavior and laws of gaseous state and solutions, with emphasis on the properties of matter and energy, are conducted. Experiments on chemical and ionic equilibrium, chemical kinetics and electrochemistry, and treatment of alcohols, phenols, aldehydes and ketones, among others, are also conducted.
